"Iron Man 3" is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall. The movie was released on May 3, 2013. The movie starts with "Tony Stark (Iron Man) captured by terrorists in Afghanistan who want him to build weapons for them. After refusing to work for them without sufficient resources or help from the United States government, he builds a powerful suit of armor and escapes." The rest of the story details how Iron Man overcomes his enemies while internally dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from being held captive in Afghanistan. "Iron Man 3" was released on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy on July 19, 2013. On May 6, 2013, Disney filed an "Motion for Preliminary Injunction & Temporary Restraining Order/Judgment in Limine" against "The Pirate Bay". On May 13, Disney's lawyers sought the site's immediate shutdown. The Court granted Disney's request on May 14. Because of this, The Pirate Bay has shut down its own servers to prevent Google from taking action against them under their copyright infringement policy. This also caused other torrent websites to deactivate their services to be consistent with the injunction. On May 16, 2013, Disney released a statement saying they believe that by "shutting down" the site (instead of blocking access to it), it had actually increased the number of visitors to The Pirate Bay. This resulted in more illegal downloads compared to what would have been had Disney not taken action. Google said it would not remove links, and later allowed search results and advertisements of the torrents and pirate bay website. The film grossed $175,079,248 in North America and $487,200,000 in other territories for a worldwide total of $672,279,248. It became the third highest-grossing film of 2013 both worldwide and in North America behind "" ($1. 2 billion) and "" ($1.1 billion), respectively, as well as the highest-grossing film of the "Iron Man" series. It also became the first Marvel film to be released without a direct sequel, followed by "" (2016). The film set numerous records including being the highest grossing opening weekend for a nine-year-old movie franchise, being the fastest film to reach $100 million and $200 million in North America, grossing $3.16 million from 567 IMAX locations on its opening day (May 3), and achieving the highest three-day gross for May (at that time). On its opening day (May 3, 2013), it earned $68. 5 million, setting a new opening day record. It went on to earn $182.2 million in its opening weekend (May 3–5), and $352.1 million in its first full week (May 10–12), setting records for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a nine-year-old film franchise and the fastest film to reach $100 million and $200 million in North America. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray August 29, 2013. "Iron Man 3" also became the first Marvel Studios film to release in IMAX theaters exclusively, starting with "Thor: The Dark World" (November 8). cfa1e77820
